An AD Miracle in the News

Here is a clinical trial using this type of mirror therapy:

And another: (Note: both of these studies suggest that self-administration is likely to have limited efficacy.)

you can also find a link to this blog on Dr. Gawande's web site: http://www.gawande.com/misc.htm

and V. S. Ramachandran has mentioned David in at least one scholarly article: http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/awp135v1 Please note that there is a factual error in the piece: we were not treating David for Trigeminal Neuralgia, but for Anesthesia Dolorosa.

and they are talking about us over at TNA: http://forum.fpa-support.org/forum.aspx?g=posts&m=4876&#4876

Help us spread the word and let us know what you know about all this.

Reading your husband's story sounds just like my own. What kind of facial massage did you do?

Thank you for sharing your story and giving others hope!

I have TN and am scheduled for surgery June 19. I am going to do mirror therapy ASAP. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.

@ AnneM--keep reading--there's even a video

@ Anonymous--we don't know that this works for TGN, since TGN is not a sensor syndrome. But we don't know that it doesn't work, either. Good luck.

We are at our wits end - and your story 'mirrors' ours almost identically. I googled 'miracle treatment for anesthesia dolorosa', just out of frustration. And I got your blog. I hope we have similar results.

Thanks for sharing your story! I'm a pain researcher and I must admit that when I came to the page I expected some kind of New Age stuff... but it turns out to be a very interesting mechanism, giving us a glimpse of how the brain interprets a lack of information! Our brains do intriguing things that we are only beginning to understand... So again, thank you and all the best to you and your husband!
